That’s my advice to every woman trying to get pregnant. Because even before you realize you are pregnant, your baby’s brain, heart and spine would have begun to form.
Include enough Folic Acid in your diet because it is vital for the proper development of your baby’s spine. The spine develops from a part of the embryo called the Neural Tube. Improper nutrition may cause defects in the neural tube, leading to conditions like Spina Bifida that may leave children unable to walk or take care of themselves.
I’ve listed some foods that are rich in Folic Acid. Be sure to include them in your diet. Remember NOT TO OVER-COOK them. Doing that would just destroy the Folic Acid.
- Brussels Sprouts
- Spinach
- Asparagus
- Spring Greens
- Broccoli
- Beetroot
- Blackberries
- Raspberries
- Black-eyed Beans
- Brown rice
- Yeast
- Peanuts
- Hazel nuts
- Cashews
- Walnuts
- Sesame Seeds
There’s enough variety that you won’t get bored eating the same kind of food for the next 9 months. So get started, we have work to do.
