Welcome to your third trimester. 28-40 weeks.
During this period DLBA, limb pain, tiredness are all common and are not to be feared.
Concerns like gestational diabetes and pregnancy induced hypertension will be more common in first pregnancy but can also happen in subsequent pregnancy.
That’s why you need to be extra vigilant about your health. I always advice mandatory visits to the doctor once in every two weeks. Regular BP check, weight gain, baby growth and sugar are to be carefully monitored.
An obstetric growth scan will be taken between 32-34 weeks to make sure the growth of baby, amount of water around the baby (liquor volume), position of baby (cephalic breech/other position) and location of placenta is all well.
As always exercise can be very helpful during this period. A few of them I advise are:
• A walk for 45mins to 1hr everyday
• Squatting exercises after 34 weeks – 30-40 squats a day or 10-15 squats after each meal.
It is important that you get 30-60 minutes of midday sleep and 7-8 hrs of night sleep. When you wake up in the night to use the toilet, drink a glass of milk or a banana or 2 biscuits
Keep a careful eye on the baby movements while you continue iron and calcium. And remember your 2nd dose of TT is at around 28-30 weeks.
Stay vigilant. Stay active. And you’ll be all set for the final stretch.
