During this period delivery can happen at any time. Good sleep, rest and adequate walking is a must. Medicines are to be continued as advised and scans are to be taken in case of any doubt.
IN the case of high risk pregnancies, you’ll be asked to take the NST or Non Stress Test. This is important to monitor the fetal heart rate, movements and uterine activity and make sure the baby is doing fine.
Every movement is important, so it is crucial to carefully watch for baby movements and report immediately in case of:
- labour pain
- decreased or absent fetal movements
- rupture of membrane
- water leakage
- bleeding or spotting
You’ll experience labour pains. They are of two kinds – false pain and true pain.
Now it’s important that you know how to differentiate the two.
False pain:
This can occur after 30-32weeks. It is a vague abdominal pain relieved by adequate rest. Pain also tends to subside after passing motion.
True pain:
This is when the pain isn’t relieved by rest. It is aggravated after emptying bowels and occurs at uniform intervals. The frequency of pain comes down and intensity of pain increases when you are experiencing this.
Keep your bags ready, because once you identify that it is indeed true pain, get to the hospital.
Your baby is on its way.
